Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

I'm a fucking hippy
Because I'm going to be growing my hair long. I don't know where I'm stopping, except I figure I'll know when it's long enough.
Questions!
I've had short hair all my life, is taking care of long hair different? How different? As I grow it out, do I still have to go in to get it trimmed? Or do I just let it grow? How long will it take to get chin length? Shoulder length?

You will want to get trims to ensure that you don't get horrid split ends and to take care of the dead ones.
As far as growth, hair grows about half an inch per month.
It's a tad hard to keep clean the longer it gets I'd say, so wash it often.

Long hair can actually be easier to care for than short hair... the bare minimum care: brush it, wash it, trim it.... you can get fancy if you like, for example, if your hair gets dry you may wish to treat it with conditioner or perhaps a hot oil treatment.
One thing that will help your hair grow in nicely and help you to avoid split ends, is to keep it up or braided for most of the time so that it doesn't blow around and get mucked up.
If you're in for the hippie look, just keep on the look-out for THIS.

For me it was always a lot of work, my hair is oily and its horrible when its long, I used to have to shower twice a day in order to look clean.
I think it was just me, but my hair also likes to dread naturally >.< Not a problem when its short!
