That's actually one of my few regrets was not visiting Australia. I was stationed in South Korea and when my mid-tour came up I lacked the funds to fly south to Australia and New Zealand. The few people I've met from that area were always polite and more than likeable, if not downright loveable 
Versus, I think I'll try to design it. If not an island, than at least a midsize town

I have a bad habit of really really pissing of the Texans that I've met by pointing out "Texas - it's not *really* south, now, is it? And really.. it's not all *that* big."
Follow this up with pointing out that one of our states covers one-third of the entire continent, and is four times the size of Texas and they get really snarky.

Hell, I lived in Alaska "The Last Frontier" when I was a kid (part of the fun of being a military brat) so hearing Texans talking shit about the size of the state does nothing but crack me up. Then again, having lived in two extremes makes one enjoy the middle ground a little

I don't understand how any politician got through any kind of schooling without at least understanding that the world isn't as hegemonic as they assert. It makes no sense to me that any politician would say something so... bizarre as what they say about women and ****.
Honestly, I just don't understand this position at all. Nothing about it makes sense. Either the **** was God's will or the **** just happened to be an opportunity for a woman to turn to the lord.
Thing is, I get the impression that they really do know better. I find it next to impossible that one could be a politician an be that innocently ignorant of the issue. Its manifestation therefore, from where I see it, is of a real and palpable malice against women. I really do not understand that kind of hatred. It doesn't even make sense.

I would be interested in sitting down face to face with each of the people who have said things like that and asking them whether they had ever been sexually assaulted.
I think that it would be an interesting thing for them to think about how they think that they have any right to use language like that without an explicit understanding of the triggering effects of their little phrases.. and to then have to explain it to a rrape survivor.

There are those things out there that are "old school" that I really do find attractive.
One of those phrases are, "Thems fightin' words."
