funny, but the other day when I was saying to my sister in law that perhaps I wear black too much, she said she wasn't aware that I wore much black at all...

???????

(I mean, I do. Wear black a lot.)

That used to be me. Nothing but black. Nice and simple. One washload, no worries about colours bleeding.
One less choice to worry about on a hung over Monday morning.
My mother didn't get it.
I need to buy more black

But I also do colours. Strong colours. Just not green. That's for trees and plants and grass.

The only problem I find with black is that there are actually different types of black. Plus I genuinely have a problem with telling very very dark colours apart. Dunno if I've said this before, but as a child I had an amazing pair of kick-*ss black boots, which I built whole outfits around. Until one day somebody pointed out that they were brown. Eck! I threw them away in shame. I think I was about 7 at the time.

Black dyed fabric is the worst. Some based on reds, others on blues, others on green.
So as they ago and fade, you end up with various shades of tinted grey in your wardrobe.

I live in dread of owning something of the green-black variety...

Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration.

I try wearing mostly black, and I love to mix in small ammounts of white, especially in very social situations. I don't understand it, but I adore the direct clash of black against white. White accentuates black, and vice versa. Perhapss, though, it reminds me of tuxedos and such, making me feel more proper, polite, mannerized, et cetera.

I wear black because I look good in it! Often in combination with other colours like white, dark red, any shade of blue, dark green or brown. Right now, I'm wearing a black and white tweed mini skirt a la the late sixties with a black Morticia style top - a little bit stylish, a little bit bohéme, that's me

I wear black because it's elegant and classic. It's very professional looking but a little color doesn't kill you. Some red or white would go nicely but then again, it really all depends on who it is and how they feel. I say, if you look nice in it, then by all means, wear what you like.

Heheh, funny Cicero. *Super-awesome-sexy-ferret-of-doom* points for you!

I wear black because I feel more comfortable in it than other colors, say . . . pink. Also, it attracts sunlight and helps keep my little warm-weather self from freezing to death. (I'm only half joking, although I do live in a desert. Sort of.)

I didn't understand a word of that. Please refrain from using 'netspeak'. Also, if you wish to join this board introduce yourself in the appropiate section.

i started wearing black because i feel comfortable in it. it slims me down a lot and when i was younger i was really hung up on my weight. i also have a very pale complexion so light colours make me disappear. there's also very few colours i like much (my last count was three and a bit). when i started getting into goth fashion i discovered that most of the clothes were black, which suited me fine...........

Meh, fucking n00bs. Except for Julia Gaeltic and Blushing Heliophobe, only noobs said in the poll "that's how we feel inside".

Again, this question is easy.

This is the ultimate truth about why do goths wear black:

I like black, and everyone wants to be me.

I think "he" is taking the piss.
Sounds like he is a wannabe commedien who will go back to school tomorrow and brag about how "he ragged a whole shitload of goths" about shooting cool kids, and they thought he was uber 1337, before he announced how "dumb" all the goths were for beleiving him and oh yeah "psyche".
I reckon. We had tossers like him in the 80's too.

I don't reckon he is a genuine newb trying to brag to fit in and getting it too badly wrong. Too much "Columbine" for my liking. Real newbie goths aren't like that.

I reckon he is blonde, about 6' 3", about 17, shoulders like a brick out house, a chest measurement bigger than his I.Q, and heading for a "Sports Scholarship" if you know what I mean.

Research tells me that the first Goths wore black in retalliation against the bright colours of the Disco era.
I wear it because it's simple, that's why I also wear lots of primary colours I dislike secondary and tertiary colours. They make me feel ill.
