I recently found out a former acquaintance of mine was murdered in a town--Maple Shade--that isn't more than twenty minutes from where I live.

I was wondering where he'd vanished to.

It's all so very surreal. We weren't friends or anything, but we talked now and again when the opportunity rose. He seemed to be an all right kid, but obviously I can't say much, as I barely knew him. And to know that he's dead? It's too strange. The police don't even have an idea as to who committed the crime, but I'm hoping that'll change soon. I'd like to know who did it, and why.

Point is, life throws some weird shit at you; I never expected something like this to happen to me.

Well, to be completely accurate, it happened to him. But I understand what you mean. Having a friend or loved one killed is something that "happens to other people".

I think life is a collection of weird circumstances that happens to "someone".
