I have a hard time believing that she scratched into her brain... Ugh.
The stuff they say about the mirror therapy toward the end is interesting. If they try that on her, I hope it works...
In psych class, they told us about a theory of emotion that says that when, for example, we see an angry bear, we put an expression of fear on our face, and then our brain feels that and says "Oh. I must be frightened," and produces the actual emotion. Same goes for happiness. The evidence they use for that is based on studies in which they instructed people to do things like scrunch their eyebrows together and push the corners of their mouth down, and then tell the researchers what they felt, and they found that people actually felt the emotion they were putting on their face, even though they weren't told what emotion they were putting on.
