Greetings and Salutations
Hi, thought I'd join up mainly to get some good recommendations on music. Into the old school stuff mainly, Sisters, Mission, TFOTN, early Cult and the rock crossovers such as Lords of the New Church.
Live in the South West UK, feel free to chat and if you want to check out some interesting music, of all genres, I write a music blog, which I can't link to yet but let me know if you are interested and I will point you in the right direction.
Also a musician (bass mainly but have been known to play mandolin in my folkier days) play in two bands...a strange gypsy folk thing called Sweet Plums (think Gogol Bordello on a chill out pill) and a new, as yet unnamed sleeze rock band, very Stooges, New York Dolls, Gunfire Dance etc.
Well thats me....

Thought I'd have a go at this
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Job is pretty no-descript but does mean that I get to work in a small company in the wilds of Wiltshire away from the urban sprawl. Other incomes is derived from writing, blogging, reviewing and playing in bands.
2. Where are you from?
Born in Wiltshire (south west UK) and still live in the area, have travelled a bit but its always a good place to come back to.
3. Who is your favorite author?
Used to read a lot of fantasy...Micheal Swanwick is a fantastic writer, loved the classic fantasy, Peake, Tolkien etc etc. These days its mainly reference and research. Have an interest in the origins of civilizations so Graham Hancock, Andrew Collins, Richard Rudgley, plus anything that offers alternative theory on religious history, all things Knights Templar, Arthurian, Dark Age and Ancient. Currently reading Labrynth by Kate Mosse
4. What are your favorite films?
Fantasy + Sci Fi and Historical - Blade Runner, Aliens, Glory, Troy, I Robot, Interview with the Vampire, Near Dark, Dogma, Shaun of the Dead, Apocolypto, King Arthur etc etc
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Can't see a wedding happening
6. At your funeral?
Something jolly..why get all mournful, it ain't gonna bring me back!
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Just go quietly in my sleep aged 120
8. What kind of casket would you want?
Just cremate me and scatter me in the woods, I like the idea of getting absorbed into the trees and still being around in some slightly tangible form.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I pretty much leather jeans and cut off t-shirt...beaten up leather jacket and biker boots.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
not being responsible for anything
11. What's your favorite band?
Grew up on Thin Lizzy, always loved New Model Army, got into goth (Sisters, Mission, etc) first time round, now into all sorts of rock, folk and punk as well.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
College
13. Why did you join?
talk to like minded souls and pick up some new music
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
male

Welcome, you seem interesting enough, admittedly I only skimmed through the intro but I think I've got a grasp on it all.
For some reason, everything in this intro makes me think of a wolf. Hehe.

Thanks, and hello to you too. Interesting....that's not a bad thing to be called...better than some of the titles that get slung around here.
A wolf...strange, never thought of myself as being wolf like.

Hey, if I can get away with it, it can't be that demanding. Like most things its not about god given talent, its all about putting the hours in.
Thanks for taking the time to say hi!

I discuss music a lot on here. But I'm pretty ruthless with that too.... If your music sucks I'll tell you. I'll also tell you how it reflects poorly on your overall character, your future in society, and on how you treat innocent animals.

Ruthlessness is okay, nothing wrong with strong opinions. What I don't like is down right rudeness and personal attacks on people, there does seem to be a lot of that going on here, present company excepted. It seems to be the bastion of people who have nothing to say but want to make a name for themselves. Its just a forum after all and I'm really just here to chat about likeminded stuff and shoot the breeze. It's only a forum not a heart transplant.
Still there does seem to be a core of good people who get what its all about and I look forward to meeting them. And thanks to everyone who has made me feel welcome thus far.

Welcome to the site, dude. I won't be much help to you when it comes to goth music, as I generally dislike it (a couple of bands excepted, by which I mean literally two - and I really have tried), but I look forward to discussing other kinds with you. Maybe you can recommend me some good British folk, I love folk music but 80% of the stuff I listen to is American.

I can't paste a link or Pm, being a mere babygoth, but if you vist my profile there is a URL to my music blog. This will take you to the front page, on the left are links organised by genre. Have a look at the folk one and check out some of the names and links.
Have a look around it all if you feel so inclined and let me know what you think.

It's all about fun. If you stop having fun in the band, then you should turn off the amps and go home. The second play becomes work, you're music is dead, and so are you.

Nice to see someone interesting and seemingly intelligent joining for a change. I've noticed several rather...lacking...newcomers of late.
