Books killed by films?

Which of your favourite reads have been murdered by the film(s)?

Braum Stoker's Dracula is actually more interesting than the book. That could mean it was murdered, because an entire 75% of the book isn't dedicated to wondering around a creepy castle.

I loved that book when I was little. I take it the movie was horrible, then?

I heard the movie was amazing.

The Golden Compass was completely murdered.

The director attempted to add some pseudo-philosophy illustrating the tragedy of modern relationships and failed miserably. He tried to relate the monster characters to Max's life and family members and sucked at it. The pacing was very poor and the film was so weepy that I started to hate it midway through.

It was hardly like the book due to having to add in "filler" because the book
was short and their attempt at dry humor made me want to kill someone.

Agreed.
And also in the same fantasy vain: Eragon was butchered. (I wish I could butcher the film.)

I'm really sorry to hear about Where the Wild Things Are...
I was so hoping they'd (for once) do a good job of it, but... I mean I don't think I should have had any expectations to begin with, really...
Any way, now I know I should not spend 10 bucks on going to see it!

I agree completely. They hacked out the relationships of half the vampires turning them into one sided characters with no soul or true connecton to one another. They could have easily linked Daniel from interview with the vampire and queen of the damned but just cut him out completely. I was very disappointed. I did Like Aaliyah as Akasha I thought she was interesting to watch and her acting was good just wish they gave her more depth or lack their of (which would explain her easy willingness to kill all vampires).

Deffinitely.

Constantine was another graphic-novel-to-movie that made me go "What the COCK?!" In Hell Blazer Constantine was bad ass and funny, but in the movie he's... Keanu Reeves. And religious. Which is stupid and not at all like the comics.

I'm really worried about this Brave New World movie coming out.

Yeahyeahyeah. The book, whilst not being particularly well-written or original, had a spark of an interesting idea behind it. Old as the hills it may be, but the movie ending was fucking awful.

I agree with June. Eragon was so horrible. If i had known that it was going to be that bad I wouldn't have wasted my money.

Any of the Tarzan movies. (I'm a diehard Edgar Rice Burroughs fan, and none of the movies, so far, even come close).

That reminds me, thats the only book I can remember that was banned from our school library and I kept meaning to read it to find out what the fuss was.

The 1980's Punisher movie sucked, as did the 2004 one. However, the one that came out recently wasn't terrible.

All of the Hulk movies

Watchmen

X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What the hell did they do to Deadpool? He looked like Baraka from Mortal Kombat.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. What the hell happened to Glorfindel? Did they kill him?

Also, Fight Club.
