I'm not too hardcore w/ CoF. Some of their songs are cool. I'm more into Iced Earth, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, and Sigh. (btw, im at home right now on my PSP via its wifi internet)

Lacuna Coil??

Dope Stars Inc. may be better. Give them a listen to.

I saw Lacuna Coil in Italy. I can't really say I liked them too much.

Oooo... another newbie. Welcome to the forums!

Don't mind maggot. He's just being himself. x) Not that it's a bad thing.

Uhm okay......^^;

Now that I have more time to be on here (jsut got here btw) I can tell you all a bit more about myself. I may not look all gothy in real life right now, but hey, I live in Michigan and msot of the people here in this damed state right now are poor. So I work with what I have here. Here's a recent picture of me below to prove:

Anywho, since maggot was complaining about the music I like, here is a bit more of the music that I like. I like J-rock, Metal, Rock, Goth Metal, Black, Metal.......covers most of it, I guess. Some of the bands are: Dir en grey, Malice Mizer, Moi dis Mois, Rentrer en Soi, Iced Earth, Lacuna Coil, Kittie, Nightwish, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Sigh, Cradle of Filth, Jack Off Jill, and guilty of liking some of the Final Fantasy music.......*hides away from the criticism about my liking of FF music*

I watch anime and read manga now and then. I used to read manga all the time, but I've settled down on it. My drawings are so-so. Some are good and some are like fucking hell. My latest drawing was of Lulu from Final Fantasy X.

Food wise: I LOVE CHINESE FOOD! I'm a meat and cheese craze kind of person. I was never forced to eat my veggies in my life as a kid, so that's prolly why I hate them now. I absolutely don't drink any kind of soda/pop/cola drinks. I'm more of my juice box and chocolate milk fan. ^^;

Now that I've typed a bit mroe on me, iI bet a lot of people now are gonna think that I'm a "poser", but I don't give a bloody fuck of what people think of me. I'm used to it nowadays. If they don't like me, then so be it. But hopefully I can improve on my "goth" appearance mroe this year when A&W reopens this year. The one by my house is a seasonal place. It will be my 4th year this year. The onyl bad thing about trying to buy stuff for my "goth" appearance is that most of the cool stuff is on the internet, and I can't order anything from the internet.......T_T I'll just have to stick with what HotTopic has and work about with that for now.

Everyone loves my hate-breeding!

Either that, or pointing out stupidity. Or both?

By the way, you ARE a poseur.

You're used to it because you are, in fact, one. That's why you hear it so much.

At least, this is what I've gathered from everything you've said so far.

Tell me goth band. Right now. Do it. The Cure and Siouxsie do not count. Neither does Bauhaus, nor the Sisters of Mercy.

You say what you wanna say. And I didn't mean that people call me a "poser". I just meant that I'm used to people being asses to me.

You think what you wanna........Everyone has different prospectives on other people and their ways.

I respect the fact that she doesn't openly say she's a hardcore goth or anything. She even said it herself, she's not that goth. So I wouldn't really call her a poser.

Thank you. It's nice to hear that someone on here isn't giving me problems. I see myself as a goth that's not a goth. (meaning I don't look gothy on the outside, but I feel gothy on the inside.) Like I said before, the reason I don't look goth on the outside is the lack of money. Blame Michigan's economy for that.

Usually people with insecurities are the first to point out who'd not "goth". Don't worry about it.

Welcome

But Maggot isn't one of those insecure people.
Welcome, but don't begin with the 'I'm goth on the inside' thing. It's not like if one were a homosexual, or if it was a religion, and you're embarrassed of this (which would be quite sad)
Gothic is an adjective, and it is about music. Generally people that say they're goths on the inside don't know any real good bands but want to call themselves by that musical style.

Mmm...

Well, as shallow as it sounds, you can pretty much steer people away from the sub culture by letting them listen to the post punk, early goth stuff. This is because they have a misinterpretation. Then they find that they're not goths. But they still might have a love for darker things.

Don't worry about it, Raven. You don't need people to justify your existence and it's not like goth is some holy ordinance.

Okay, bands... I'm going to recommend these bands and then from there, if you like em, you like em. Don't try to force yourself to like something that doesn't please your ear. You just might be a metal head or something.

Of course Souxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Joy Division, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Alien Sex Fiend, Specimen, Red Lory Yellow Lory, The Birthday Party, Southern Death Cult, Bauhaus, The Mission UK.

Modern goth, well... actually, to me, the lines between industrial, EBM, and goth have been blurred. So, I'll just recomend some more popular groups of today: Panzer AG, Dead Can Dance, Combichrist, Man and Machines, KMFDM, Skinny Puppy, Cruxshadows, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, ThouShaltNot (gag), Emilie Autumn, Voltaire, The Oddz, Ego Likeness, Ayria, And One, Das Ich, Dope Star Inc., Angelspit, Asp.

Others can probably reccomend other goth groups. Damn... why does my shit make me look like a rivethead?

Oh, and about the fashion... do not worry about wether you can afford or not afford clothing on-line. IF you have enough money to justify buying shit from Hot Topic, you have enough money to justify DOING IT YOURSELF. If you see something on-line that you like and can't afford, then fucking make it. Most of that cool ass shit on-line that you see does not justify the prices unless it's something complex like custom clothing.

Make your own stuff, your own style. Compliment your figure and shoot for decadence and find the beauty of yourself to compliment that. Your own creations in your wardrobe will be priceless to you. Wear your art on your sleeve, girl. And honestly, if you really REALLY like bands, don't go around wearing their tees. Some may disagree here, but my personal tastes shys me away from being a billboard. I wouldn't even wear a Cruxshadows shirt or even DIY their logos on my cloths. It just seems silly to me. You are you. Advertise yourself, not some band. Again, that's just my personal tastes.

A few bands...
Wumpscut, Switchblade Symphony, Android Lust, Razed in black, Krell (if you can find a cd????), Mephisto Waltz, New Skin, KMFDM, Ministry, Bile, Godhead, Misery Loves company, Skinlab, Skinnypuppy (I know not all goth) ... um ok I'm spent for now, I'm sure others will have suggestions.

And don't be affraid of other music because you think that others won't think it's goth enough. I've got over 200gigs of full quality lossless audio and not all fits into a neat little category of gothiness, some of it's metal, some of it's techno, some industrial, some eighties...and on.
It's better to be a renaissance person than an ignorant single subject person who can't go outside their comfort zone. It'l serve you better in life.

And Kontraine, your music makes you look like a rivethead becuase you are a closet rivethead! :P
