Smile Doctor Who

I love this show as well. Its one of my favorites. The doctor goes to so many places and times and keeps on saving the world. In the last season he also showed how he doesn't get any credit for what he does. His lonliness made me feel sorry for him. He is also such a funny character but he cares for all of his assisstants so much. I don't miss an episode of this. LOL.

I just watched an episode of Doctor Who tonight and I feel radiant with afterglow...... I love this show so much.... I am so happy the new series is just as good as the one I grew up with.... The existance of this series makes me happy. Every episode has lines I end up replaying in my mind again and again....

"I'd love to show you around.... You and your... Wife? Concubine? ...Prostitute?"

I just cannot express how much I am in love with this show. Watching it rekindles my love of learning and adventure which all to often gets dulled by the drudgery of day to day existance.

I love Doctor Who. I'd watched a few of the older ones when I was younger, but was really pleased when they brought out a new series a few years ago. I particularly enjoyed the recent series, especially John Simms playing The Master.

Has anyone else watched the spin-off, Torchwood at all?

Torchwood is okay, but there's was too much emphasis on their personal lives. Can we just have the aliens and such please? :P

I seriously love Doctor Who, and spent far too much of my time staying up til 3am watching re-runs of the old serieses on UK Gold.

Favourite Doctor anyone? Mine's either David Tennant or Tom Baker.

Eh, Tennant's ok but Tom Baker is how I would remember The Doctor.

I didn't think Torchwood was too bad, but the thing that annoyed me was how they put so much emphasis on the fact it was played past nine. You thought they'd do it more subtely, but it was violence, sex & swearing from the moment it started.

My favorite Doctors, in order: Tom Baker, Colin Baker, Christopher Eccleston, Peter Davidson, David Tennant, Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, William Hartnell, Peter Cushing, Paul McGann. McGann probably deserves more credit, but that telemovie was just so awful...

You are the only person I've ever come across to put Colin Baker in their top five Doctors. Seriously, why?

I can honestly say you're the first person I've ever heard say that they hated it.

Which shocks me slightly.

But we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Yeseth. I like the show "Ghost Hunters" though on SciFi.

I don't understand why more people don't love Colin Baker as much as I. With his larger-than-life personality, and his blue eyes and blonde curls. The multicolored costume he wears, complete with cat pin, just appeals to me. As a child, I found this character cheered my sad heart.

Well, to each their own. But. Have you really given it a chance? Or did you stop paying attention when you saw that the show is often campy, and lacking in the special effects department?

I felt his larger-than-life personality was often a bit too forced. Tom Baker was completely barking, but it was all natural, mostly due to his attempts to quit smoking. Colin Baker never seemed to be trying to be the Doctor, rather than being his own Doctor.

I sound pretentious :S it's not deliberate.

Torchwood is good fun, though not as family friendly as Doctor Who. I think the focus is too much on the sex and violence, but that's just me. The storylines are generally good.

The plot is supposed to overlap with Doctor Who, but it's so subtle I haven't noticed anything beyond the obvious (no details, I wont spoil it for you). The first series of Torchwood finishes to coincide with the last three episodes of the latest series of Doctor Who.

I hate that show as well. I'm surprised I'm not the only one, everyone seems to like it.

Ugh. Torchwood = t3h suck. Well, compared to the current Dr. Who series anyway.. I'd list them David Tennant, Christopher Eccleson, Tom Baker Jon Pertwee then Rowan Atkinson from the red nose day spoof..

Although the guy from Whitnail and I would have made a cool Dr too...

He did play the Doctor, in the same spoof as Rowan Atkinson.

And yes, introduction please. It helps to know a bit about new members.

I'm used to getting blank looks if I mention the show, as around here many people still have never even heard of it. I've tried to introduce my friends to it, with varied success. The people who say they don't like it usually stop paying attention after like two seconds, saying "I don't like scifi" , or "I don't like British television" and, of course, with the old series, "the special effects are cheesy". I don't think I've ever heard anyone really familliar with the show say they hated it..... I love it so much, I can't imagine what's to hate... Adventure, sorrow, friendship, thought-provoking storylines, silliness.
