local bands you think others should know about.

Forgive the grammar, I'm on a wii. List a couple local bands you think others should know.

Empyrean Assunder
The Passing Hour

EA is kinda coldwave like with a slight metal influence.

TPH is somewhat like Cruxshadows but more melancholy and atmospheric. They're almost etherial with a heavy wave and goth influence.

Sorry, I don't know many local bands. Mostly because what I've heard sucks. The only one that I can remember is the Shitgivits, but only because I used to toke with one of the band members. And he always talked about them.

The only band I can think of is The Mint Chicks. Kiwi alt Punk is the best description I can give it... It's not rock.... More or less a great Alt band with New Zealand influences. A fuckload better than that stupid band we somehow conceived: Evermore.

Thomas Nola et Son Orchestre

These guys are industrial in the way of Einstuerzende Neubauten, and would would appeal to fans of them, Nick Cave, and Rasputina. The worked on a soundtrack with Douglass P from Death In June, so you know they're not just hacks.

Holy Cow

Depending on the era of these guys (they've been around since the mid-80's), they draw influences from The Birthday Party, Bauhaus, and Magazine. Later they took more of an industrial twist, but not in the way of using annonying keyboards to hide brain-dead guitars, the way so much "Industrial" is done these days. The used to tour with Alien Sex Fiend, which is where most people older than me remember them from.

Everytime someone mentions DIN GLORIOUS I cringe. True they seem to be good people and they seem to be having alot of fun --- but they are dreadful.

HOLY COW, now there is a name from out of the past. America's answer to KILLING JOKE. Trully great live.

Out here in the desert there are quite a few good bands. CALABRESE is a great MISFITS-type band that has evolved away from being just another clone. DESADE does some really nice old-school death rock stuff. THEATRE OF ICE is another name from the past that is back recording and playing live. They really fail to fit into any one category and may be more of a acquired taste.

A-Bomb Chop Shop is decent if anyone's into rockabilly, as is access denied for ebm/darkwave, or Beau* for alternative.

He has his head alot of places when it comes to his own music, too. Like in a TV or covered with shaving cream. I want to meet those guys. I'm friends with Kyle (Zagan), but I never got to meet the rest.

I owe Dan a song that I thought I had but lost, and recently found. Long story.

The whole gang is cool, I have a picture of Zack holding my punk penguin. I used to have a bad opinion of Zagan, but I was wrong and happy to be proved such. I think they still joke about it, which makes me smile. :-)

I have to say Catgut Mary. OK. so they aren't local to my Missouri self, what with their being in Australia and all... but think Celtic-Punk Piratics, even the shanties are tattooed and the planks danced because no one would dare walk- with the hottest accordian player in any hemisphere. They are local to my soul if not my latitude.

When it comes to DIN GLORIOUS I guess I should wait till they actually release something. I know they are good musicians, I just think their act is old and tired. I've seen them live a number of times and was just always bored.

Well thats good. I met Zagan last year with badteccy at the local club (which kinda sucks, but is sorta fun btw.). He noticed the Sex Gancg Children painting on the back of my jacket (and that badteccy and I were probably the only people there NOT in hairfalls or huge pants) and we kept in contact. He visits us every now and again and is a blast to hang out with. Also he snores alot. Hahaha.
