Styles: Deathrock vs. Cyber
DarkPrayer gave me an idea. This is going to be interesting.
In a nutshell, what's better, fishnets, ripped shirts, deathawks, or platform boots, goggles, and dreadfalls?
Of course, I'm going to have to go for the deathrock look.

I vote Deathrock. Although I cannot wear either style due to size, If I could I would choose Deathrock.
Wait...GOD? wear the style of God? Pass the togas! hand me some grapes! I like the greek style.

On men, Deathrock. On women, Cyber.
If it is done right. Either or done wrong just looks terrible... That said, I'd rather see a well done female deathrock/male cyber than a badly done version of the reverse.

I'm pretty sure we all know my answer here. Hah.
Has anyone else noticed that cybergoths and rivitheads have been seriously ripping off of deathrock lately? All of the guys have ratty mohawks with pointed sideburns and layered torn fishnet shirts and the girls have layers of torn fishnet everything everywhere. I've been scoffed at by cyber folk for having a deathhawk and pointy sideburns as if I were the one doing the off-ripping.

Quoted for truth. Both can look excellent on either sex when care is taken.
I voted for deathrock though, as thats the style I'd wear if I could be bothered to get all dressed up.

I like them both. I'm really minimalistic and don't really go full on with either one. I kinda prefer the whole steampunk look or the androgyny look if I'm dressing up for the evening or something.

I think it's harder to mess up teased hair and ripped fishnets than synthetic hair and neon. Everyone looks good in some form of the deathrock look, but I don't think the same can be said for cyber.

Cyber does require a bit of effort and fashion savvy to pull it off decently. I've seen some FAILURES in cyber more than I have deathrock.

Deathrock is easier to pull off but cyber is more impressive, if you do it off properly. I've seen so many horribly executed dreadfalls... I vote deathrock. I do respect cyber dressers that actually put effort into themselves and manage not to look like this douchebag:

No worries, Electro. They're just hatin' cause they lack the savvy to do it.

The deathrock style is far more rare over here. In fact, I think it's entirely unknown. I see cyberkid stuff all over the Internet, and there's slight parallels visible in the way people dress at my school. I might say I like deathrock more, simply because it's a dying art.

DEATHROCK. I like the look a lot more than the actual music so I never dress in such a style. Also I would like a complete idiot in either deathrock or cyber.

Hey, ever noticed how A LOT of goths of any kind wear torn fishnets? But I would agree with you on funky hairstyles part.

OH WOW I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE I'LL CHOOSE
Looks like I'll have to let my ripped up fishnets and Drop Dead magazines decide for me...

I go more for Deathrock, because I can't' wear platforms to save my ass--I'd just break my ankles--but either can look good if it's done right.

I'm not really down with neon. I didn't enjoy Neuromancer all too much either.

As far as how impressive they go, yeah I've seen some pretty cool looking cyber people, but I don't think shelling out about five hundred bucks online for one outfit is all that impressive. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten a couple things from online too, but I think DIY-ing plain clothes and garments is a lot more impressive. It adds a lot more personality because you know that no one else has something identical to it.

My problem isn't that I'm fashion-dumb, because I'd love to do Cyber sometimes and I think I could pull it off. But I definitely can't afford to shell out the money I'd need to buy a decent outfit, and I absolutely /cannot/ sew, which, coupled with my obsessive-compulsive perfectionism, I just don't have the heart, or patience, to make for myself. Sad truth.
