So I got lost on the entrarwebz one night...

Hi. I guess you can call me Saturnalia, or even Satia, which makes me think of "satya" which is this groovy Sanskrit word describing all the wonderful shit that goes on outside of reality. I'm really into studying the etymology of words. I like oranges and coconuts, especially if mixed together, maybe with a bit of sake. I'm here to find some Scandinavian boys that I can trick into having some form of love affair that ends in me moving the fuck out of America.

Scandinavian boys, eh? I know just the guy for you. An enigmatic Swede with the air of a royal god. Or rather, the snotty attitude of one who thinks he's a god.

Welcome.

Welcome to the boards!
My mom knows Sanskrit. She told me that it was a hard language to learn.
Good luck with the whole love affair thing.

Welcome.
IIRC, Meth; he is also reminiscent of the lead singer of this little ol' band from back-in-the-day.

Anyways.

Welcome to the forum! What sort of music interest you?

Nooo..
You are mine and Honeythorn's.
Silly Meth.. We established THAT loooong ago.

Welcome, Saturnalia! I love etymology as well. It's fascinating.
Saturnalia is an interesting name if you are female, seeing as how it honors the god Saturn..

What our local stud Meth is modestly saying is that he is a Swede.

Love your avatar. Do you like Lacuna Coil? Clan of Xymox?
Given your interest in words, do you have any favorite authors?

Welcome.

As they all have said... welcome. I hope you enjoy your time here. Don't mind the trolls, they go away eventually.
Nice hair, by the way. Pepe's in Camden does falls just like that.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Since everyone seems so interested in my musical preferences, they include Metal, Electronica, Industrial, EBM, (real) Punk Rock, Electro-Ambient, Goth, Classical piano and violin and Show Tunes.

To answer HumanePain, I read mostly non-fiction, including mostly topics of various world religions and mythologies, ancient societies, social and political works, etc. Right now I'm reading Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" and some other book on Santeria of which I forget the author's name.. o.O

The fiction I have read has been mostly Chuck Palahniuk, Dean Koontz and... erm... Harry Potter..... >.>

As for my name, I am very much fascinated with Saturn (Cronos) and the myths that surround him and with that old Roman holiday/three-day-orgy that was Saturnalia. Oh, and Saturn was the coolest character on Sailor Moon. :P

And Saturn ate his children too. That makes him morbidly fascinating as a mythological character.

And is the namesake for saturday and also the ruling planet, at least for me, as a capricorn.

Plus it's just one of the coolest planets in the solar system, especially with the hexagon on, I believe, the north pole.

Yeah! What's up with that geometrical rotation band in Saturn's upper atmosphere? It defies known physics.

It's a trip, no less so than the gigantic patch of nothing they found in the universe that shouldn't exist, they figure if they can find it on the opposite side of the universe it may go a long way to proving multiple universes, or the multiverse.

That coupled with the blackhole they just found that's 18 billion solar masses and actually has a blackhole orbiting it (blows the f'in mind i tell ya).

But what's really cool is that some of the projects going online this year will be able to take pictures back before what we know as stars and galaxies existed when the hydrogen left that came from the big bang was still inert.

*goes on into nerd land*

I need to get back to being informed.

Ha, I was just going to talk about Satya but I saw you already know it. But I have it understood that it means the 'truth' and the 'perpetual', which is more to say totality rather than what lies outside of this reality.

It's not that impressive actually. Black holes have event horizons. Our solar system could orbit a black hole forever so long as it has a stable orbit outside of the event horizon.

If you use yahoo, just setup your myyahoo page to include news from space.com as well as reuters science and AP science, they keep me happily sedated with nerdy goodness.

we do technically orbit a blackhole since there is one at the center of the galaxy. What is impressive is the fact that the blackhole in question is so massive (it's the largest one yet) that another blackhole orbits it.

Oh ok, I get what you're saying. :P
What I said was in fact based on the black hole in the Milky Way, because I used to believe the galaxy would eventually collapse in on itself because of it, and I thought we were talking about something of the sorts.

I described it as "what lies outside this reality" because it is believed that what we experience and perceive is not real and that satya is the "true" reality that controls everything behind the the veil of our fucked up world.

It's related to dharma, where satya is the way things are supposed to be, dharma is the rule we must live by to make it that way.
