Can someone help me with my boring dress?

My dress looks like this
http://www.hauntedhousecollectibles....h_dress100.jpg
but it has no pattern like it does on the top. I think it has potential to be a nice goth dress, but I have no idea how to fix it. I'm good at sewing, but not creating designs. Any ideas?

It all kind of depends on your style so if you could kind of sum up your style that would be very helpful. Also what fabric is the dress made of and how is it stitched?

There are a ton of things you could add to play up that dress...

Depending on what you like, you could add tulle or net, silk flowers, lace or ribbon details, et cetera. It really depends on what you're in to. Take a look at some other "goth" dresses and get inspiration from them.

I think that's a really nice dress.

If I were you I would tear it up a little at the thighs..

It is really nice. I personally, would not touch it and risk messing it up. Maybe you could wear a cincher with it.........or erm, never mind. That might look stupid.

You could leave the dress as it is, and find a nice lace or fishnet shirt to wear over it, or a fitted velvet jacket. Play it up with stockings and accessories and such.
