Things like the topic of gay don't really occur to you when you're a kid. But I remember someone mentioning them to me a few years ago & then it kind of clicked. Isn't there a Sesame Street character with HIV or something?

I want the Hokey-Pokey Elmo doll ... I'm not that much into Elmo ... I just think it's funny to watch it dance.
My brother, sister and I all loved watching Speed Racer when we got home from school.
And when I was about 10 or 11, there was an independent UHF TV channel high on the dial from a far away city (Rhinelander, I think) that only came in once in a while. And I would check every afternoon when I got home from school to see if I could get it in. And once in a while, through a snowy, staticky signal, I would watch Marvel Superheroes. It was a cartoon, although there wasn't any animation. They just pointed a camera at comic book panels and had actors read the dialog. To simulate Captain America's sheild being thrown through the air, they would pan the camera over a stationary picture of the sheild with motion lines trailing it. I loved that show at the time, and I cannot believe how weak it looks now!
Excelsior? SHEESH!

The firts cd I ever bought was of the Kelly Family. I still have it, and I still like it. I have an Aqua-cd too.
When I was 11 or 12, I had this huuuge poster of Leonardo DiCaprio, and I gave it a kiss before I went to bed each night.
I'm afraid of the dark. And of spiders, too, I even have nightmares about them.
I cried when I saw Edward Scissorhands. For a whole hour. I was 17.
When I first heard Bela Lugosi's Dead I thought it was the worst song ever.
My bedroom looks more hippie-like than anything in the sixties ever did.
I still have dolls and teddybears in my bed, they have names, and I give them a night-kiss if I don't forget it. One of them is pink and has a broken nose because I used to chew on it when I was a child.
As a child, I used to be in love with Robin Hood. The Disney-version. I guess it didn't bother me that he was a fox.
I actually believed all my little rabbits had gone to poor children who really wanted a pet untill my mother told me she had given them to a guy who liked eating rabbits. That was half a year ago. I cried when she told me.
I don't only like the Sound of Music, I've sang some songs from that musical on stage when I still had music classes. I totally rocked.

I've held hands, but that's it. Ha! I win!
I also have a semi-whiny Myspace, as well as a strange actual pseudo-(dream)journal-sketchbookthing.
Ooo, and I own several items of clothing from Hot Topic. I was there today and I had to watch helplessly as my brother bought a HIM hoodie.
My favorite stuff is all from Banana Republic, back when they actually had vintage clothing (and a hand-drawn catalog!)
Both of my fedoras are from Target.
I listen to Harry Connick Jr.
Tori Amos scares the hell out of me.
The last Lord of the Rings movie kept me on the verge of tears. It wasn't even the dying parts that did it, it was when the king rode down the line of riders tapping their spears with his sword. I was screaming "They're all going to die! It's so sad!" in my head the whole time.
I still don't really like Joy Division or Bauhaus very much.

I heart Stitch! I own the talking plush and saw the movie in theaters twice!
Though I'm not really embarrassed about that, just over enthused over the greatness that is Lilo & Stitch.

Lilo kinda freaked me out. No doubt she was a little goth girl, but jeezus, the way she "played" with her dolls, and how she got all depressed in the begining....creepy as fuck.

Most definitely. I that part was the best. That and when she says she feeds Pudge the fish peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because he controls the weather.

I used to watch Sesame Street, and Eureka's Castle.
Anybody remember Teddy Ruxpin? I was all about some Teddy Ruxpin.
Here's my confession...
I love old school funk and R&B - I'm talking George Clinton, Atlantic Starr, Peaches & Herb, Kool & the Gang, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye...
also some Jazz. My favs are Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra, Louis Armstrong.
I love to dance to 'Nasty Girls' and I remember loving Michael Jackson when he was still natural.
When I was grocery shopping with Mr. Helio yesterday, Boyz II Men came on and I was singing along, when he pronounced it as 'pop crap'. I was very sad.
Anybody else secretly like music like this as well?
Or am I...alone?

Teddy Ruxpin? No, I liked AG Bear instead, because AG didn't talk in human speech. He just growled in response to your voice. And it was clever enough to really sound different every time without sounding random. You really did think he was responding in bear speak to everything you said, with intelligence and emotion. It was an amazing spur to the imagination, and meant your conversations could go anywhere, unlike Teddy. Alas, I saw an AG Bear on ebay recently - $50.00. *sigh*
BH. I'm with you on the R&B ... and don't forget all those classic 60's and 70's motown artists: The Temptaions, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Earth Wind and Fire, Sam and Dave, The Ojays, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, Aretha, etc .... And don't forget Etta James!
And the Jazz ... oh, yes, the Jazz! Who doesn't love Ellla. I also adore Diane Schuur, Dinah Washington, Lena Horne, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme and Tony Bennett.
I better be careful or this will have to move to "Music", but I'll finish with one thought:
I think I'd pay to see you dance to "Nasty Girls"! *Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!*

Lol - not with this belly, you wouldn't!
My Teddy always broke. We returned three of them, if I remember correctly, but then again I was little (I'm 22), so my memory could be off.
What about Paddington Bear? I have a 'detective' style raincoat, and I always think I need a yellow hat to go with it but no one knows what I'm talking about.
Okay, I'm not the only one who listens to that good old stuff. Earth, Wind and Fire are my favorite of what you mentioned. I was watching American Idol (I can confess that here too, right?) and they had to sing oldies...no one knew the words! I was mortified because I grew up listening to that. Who doesn't know the lyrics to It's In His Kiss?
Melikes Anita Baker, too. Glad to see I'm not the only one here...
*sighs of relief*

Yeah, well, a classic voice can never be silenced. That's why you can still hear Billie Holiday on the classic jazz and big band stations. As far as the kids on American Idol ... well, those aren't the only songs they forget the words to. The early rounds are all about eliminating people who don't do their homework.
And, yes, hun ... you are not alone!

I have an Aqua CD! I totally <3 Dr. Jones. The video came up on t.v the other day & I was permanently glued for the whole duration.
When I was 7 my first tape was of an ABBA medley for the Brit Awards with Steps, B*Witched (who I absolutely adored, I went crazy when they did their irish dancing) Cleopatra, Tina Cousins & Billie Piper. I played it non stop. I also used to listen to The Moffats (rubbish version of Hanson).

I still cry like a baby everytime I see it. I made my brother (he's fifteen) watch it, and he cried for a whole hour afterwards. He went straight to bed and I could hear him sobbing.
