As for hitting someone you love, it's often when we revert to our primal sides where we believe somehow might makes right, and violence will solve your problems. It's a condition that brings war about, as well as domestic abuse on a much smaller scale.

Hitting someone can mean a large number of different things. More often it is a demonstration of dissatisfation.

Sometimes I think people just try to hard to stay together. They meant and fell in love, then can't admit they are with the wrong person. So in the course of changing them into what "they should be" get violent. May even think they are helping the other, not realizing the other person is just fine the way they are already.
