I wondered if anyone knew that there is a kick ass song about `Garfield` by Unseen Terror !!! (once a side project of Napalm Death`s Shane Embury)
here are the words :
Garfield for President x4
Hello my names Garfield, vote for me !!!
Garfield for president, he`s your cat ,
Garfield for president, thats a fact
Garfield for President, theres no one else,
Go tell `em Garfield !!!
That was for all the Garfield fans on this thread !!!

JTHM & Squee all the way for me! Jhonen Vasquez is a genious and a god. I also like Lenore by Roman Dirge, Hellsing by Kouta Hirano, and Azumanga Daioh by Kiyohiko Azuma. I also like Calvin and Hobbs.

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one so similar. I enjoyed the hell out of transmetropolitan (dl'ed the whole shebang in .cbr's) & I've always been a fan of anything Jhonen does, as well as Hellboy. I kinda got into Hatter M, too.

My favourite, by far, has to be the Punisher series.

Oh, and I am still a firm believer (dare I say... true believer?) that the Hulk is the most physically powerful living being under 50ft tall. He took on EVERYBODY, and at the SAME TIME!

*brushes the dust from this thread*
Sorry I can't help resurrecting this.
The Sandman series is unforgettable. And I love the Endless.
JTHM, Everything about it is hilarious, the characters, the side comments and all the ''meanwhiles''- my favorite being the one with the vampire-wannabe kid. I hope that happens to the hordes of vampire-crazed teens of today. *evil laugh*
Gloomcookie was sweet and the characters were all beautiful little oddities. I thought the ending was tragic.
Return to Wonderland was an exciting ride and the way it wove the plot into the original version (and twisting it grotesquely in the process) was very interesting.

I'm glad someone said Get Fuzzy cuz that's my favorite. I always fall in with people who read comic books-aside from JTHM which I'm embarrassed about, I've never read any.

"Blue Monday"-Seeing as how I started out as a millennium-era new waver in high school, this really hit a chord with me. Especially with the soundtrack and excellent writing for the characters.
"Love and Rockets"-Where I got the term (Read: Made-up) "Love and Rockets lesbian" on account of the queer sexuality being an important but not all-encompassing part of some of the main characters, particularly in the Locas storyline with Maggie, Hopey and Terry. Especially Maggie. In Palomar and the US, Luba may be hedonistic, abusive and vain, but is she a patron saint of cougars and ginormous tits or what?
In terms of superheros, I tend to have more interest in Marvel and their backstories but some heroes in DC I can get behind. Especially the back catalog of Classics they put out.
"Scooter Girl"-Basically, popular mod tool meets perfect mod girl, loses popular mod girl and status because she hates him and do a dance of misunderstandings and revenge with a backdrop mod and soul from today and yesterday.
"Gloom Cookie"-Really more of a guilty pleasure due to the borderline fanfic/Twilight style writing, plotholes, sudden character changes and the fact that for every good artist on the book that leaves (Ted Naifeh, Breehn John Burns, Harley Sparx for the most part) an unfortunate replacement shows up (John Gebbia but at least he's better now and Vincent Batignole).
Oh, and it ended too soon which makes the ending even worse.

The Sandman...
Perfect in every way.
Black Orchid I'm hoping will be just as good.

I don't read too many comics, but I quite enjoy Fables from Vertigo Comics and Lackadaisy, by the enormously talented Tracy Butler.

By the by, I've been meaning to read "Meatcake" and "The Maxx" but I've also got a copy or two of Deadline Magazine, a magazine that was sort of like Liquid Television for indie comics that included Tank Girl, Milk and Cheese and Love and Rockets.
Sniff around on eBay, it's well worth your while.

So. Theoretically, if someone knew absolutely nothing about comics-totally not me at all, just saying-and they wanted to perhaps, theoretically, begin enjoying them, where would said person begin?
Also, quite theoretically of course, say that the person was not so into super heroes and would appreciate something much more twisted, eerie, creepy and such, how well would that narrow it down?
