LOVE the wallpaper! Who's your decorator?

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job) currently unemployed, but hope to join the retail hell before Xmas. I bicycle, play with the hounds, tease the cats, and cruise the thrift stores.

2. Where are you from? Southern U.S., y'all.

3. Who is your favorite author? George Orwell, his journalism pieces more than his fiction. Yukio Mishima is a close second, and for pictures and words, Edward Gorey.

4. What are your favorite films? Metropolis (1927, silent), Dr. Mabuse (1922, silent), Sunset Boulevard, 1950.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding? Extremely unlikely that there would ever be someone I could stand for more than 2 weeks. Seems hardly worth marrying.

6. At your funeral? No funeral. Too many people I wouldn't want to see while I'm alive would be attending.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? Suddenly. Anything to beat being in a nursing home for 10 or more years.

8. What kind of casket would you want? Cheap. I think my state requires one for cremation, but what's the use of burning up a nice one? If that rule changes, I'll go with a nice black body bag.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? Hell, I can't tell them apart. Black shoes, black socks, black pants, black shirt. Black coat in winter, with black knit cap.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? Having no decisions to make. Your parents are totally in charge of what school, what church, what's for dinner, when's bedtime, when you go shopping. Left to my own devices, I would eat junk food, drink beer, and go to the thrift stores all the time. Wait, that's exactly what I do.

11. What's your favorite band? Don't have one, but am willing to take suggestions. I prefer classical, but not in a snooty way. Just the noisy, obvious pieces, like "Montagues and Capulets" from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet", "Vesti la Guibba" from "I Pagliacci" , "Oh, Fortuna" from "Carmina Burana", "March of the Toreadors" from "Carmen". And most of Kurt Weill's music, especially "The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahogonny".

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? Two years college before deciding it was Frustrating and pointless.

13. Why did you join? You all seem to be intelligent, literate people. There's darned few of them around in real life, and even fewer on most discussion boards.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? *Scarlett O'Hara accent* I, sir, am a lady!

Looking forward to having time to read ALL the posts here, learn about different music, and talk to interesting people. See you later.

Ohmygoth! I was just listening to Pagliacci right now. My favorite piece of opera.
Welcome.

Since my last post I've had to buy a cellphone. *sigh* I never want to be one of those people standing in Walmart in front of the cookies, calling home to find out what anybody wants. Just buy some, geez, it's not important whether they have to eat Pecan Sandies when they wanted Little Debbies.

But I bought "Vesti la Guibba" as a ringtone, sung by Placido Domingo. Makes me smile every time I hear it.

So, what kind of cookies should I get?
