I don't see how myspace is anymore a waste of time than a messageboard. It's all a matter of how you use it.

Messageboards (or at least the ones I attend) are used for the conveyance of ideas and exercising the craft of words, debates, and thought.
Myspace is for collecting friends you don't know and putting the newest Dashboard Confessional song on your profile.

Again, it's all about how you use it. Some people use myspace for collecting friends. I however, use it for the sharing of ideas, promoting events, sending quick messages with friends and work associates, and learning more about people. I meet so many people everyday that I don't know well enough to call over the phone (I hate talking on the phone anyways). Myspace is good because it keeps me in touch with these people, so that I don't forget them and they don't forget me.
I think MySpace is brilliant, and a great way to share art and music with others without having to go through a 3rd party.

Haha, I was like Mick Ignis. I had to get on Gnet and hope that you had given yourself away, because I had no idea who you were, and have no way to sneak past your HTML to message you (gah, I miss my browser. . .)
Anyway, to GNM, I agree that MySpace is retarded. But, a waste of time? As Mick stated already, that depends on how it is used. I use MySpace to keep up with my friends (yes, my friends, and not random people who decide to add me). I am not trying to defend MySpace, as I don't care what happens to it, nor do I care about the people who orgasm over it, but it has been a very useful tool for me when I need to get in touch with someone and have no other way of doing so. Because so many people use it and it's so expansive it has practically become another form of communication to me so that I can contact those I wouldn't be able to contact otherwise.

You could just have clicked send message on your own profile copyed the link all but the &freindid= blah blah and gone to my profile and clicked on the address bar and pasted everything but the freind id number and use mine instead to send a message. lol but yeah im taking down the html block i just put it up to stop some really annoying dude from messaging me.

Actually, I would have gone into your page source, found the link from there, and then messaged you. But, that doesn't work on IE (and if it does I didn't look hard enough). Also, I was going to do as you said, but I didn't feel like having extra URLs in my uncle's browser.

FireFox is second best, Opera is way way better. But to each his/her own.

I have been curious of Opera, but Firefox is fine for my needs so far. I have no desire to change now, as I don't see what more Opera can offer me that I don't have already.

Well it offers alot, but for using with Myspace it doesn't work with transparent tables on myspace all that great.
