If you do not think us rude, we are curious about your parents tolerance/intolerance (or are they kept in the dark?) of your beliefs.
If it is too nosy, than just slap me.

Neither believes I'll go to Hell according to their beliefs, so they don't mind.
But my mother finds it incredible that I can't believe in a god, while my father finds it incredible that I can't believe in a purpose to life.

Do they send you to faith based school just to keep you out of the public school system? This isn't nosy, is it? This curiosity is reasonable, isn't it?

Yes, and often a week, but rarely a month. By the way, I have resolved not to spin up any new threads about Christianity, evolution, or stuff like that on this board. Everytime someone else drags them out, though, I'm going to consider it an open invitation.

Instead of dismissing Christianiy as most of you have, (notice I did not say all) search for yourself. Search the eveidence. There is a book about a reporter who went to disprove Jesus and the bible but the more he searched the more he came to know that it is truth. So instead of insulting and bashing people for there beliefs, search it for yourself. Don't go close minded either. You really need to search with an open mind and an open heart.

How do you know we didn't search and that's why we're skeptical?

The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith, by Lee Strobel.
Yeah, I've read them both - with an open heart, mind you - and still I made a paper about the problems within that book. I also did similar papers on Craig Lane's theleological argument and Ravi Zacharias' Jesus Among Other Gods. My Bible professor said he didn't agree with my beliefs, but liked my arguments.
I was raised in a flexible open-minded Catholic family that went to church and put me in chatechism and recently confirmations. My reasons for not believing in a god are almost entirely rational.

Wow, the perfect term for what Orion is doing just occured to me. Spiritual ****. He is trying to force Christianity on the unwilling. I go to a Catholic school, and even my religion teacher is far more gentle about trying to get me into the faith. I have even enjoyed a number of good debates with her over the existence and validity of God and Christianity.
Orion, if you are still here, I feel obligated to inform you that you have pushed me even farther from Christianity than I was before. You do not accept questioning of any kind. I have found that this kind of behavior triggers an instinctual rejection in most people. Perhaps if you took HumanePaine's advice and tried to be a little more flexible, you'd be met with less aggression. Remember: The towering oak meets the storm head on, arrogant and sure of it's power, and is uprooted and destroyed. The gentle weeping willow bows before the force of the storm, and is spared for it's humility.
