Almost everyone hates us the more we do.

I agree. Perhaps we need to stop "doing" things. We need to really start looking after ourselves. We don't need the economy to get any worse then it is.

Dubai does look incredible. Perhaps it's wrong to say, but I'm actually afraid to visit. My boyfriend wants to go.

Yeah, no kidding; they're both like a completely different country.

But I didn't live in either one of those places. I lived in a 'small' Chinese city called Shi Yan, in Hubei province. It was much more 'real' China. And I visited the country and the villages out there several times. When we would go to the orphanage every week during my first year, we had to walk through one of these smaller village communities. An experience you never forget, I'm tellin' ya.

Anyways, like I've already said about 3 times, I never said their system couldn't use work. I just said it's not quite the disaster everyone here seems to think it is. More and more of the population are leaving the villages in favor of living in the cities, and the quality of life there -is- on the rise.

But hey, why take my word for it? Feel free to go to China and see for yourselves.

Dubai has recently addressed the human rights issue by building barracks for its chinese slaves.
again, rather than flame someone for trying to explain the situation to you, please try to educate yourself on the matter.
I'm not flaming anyone. Like I said, I'm just explaining things as I see them.

Dubai may very well be guilty of doing such things, but I would rather read a news article on it or see some pictures than just take someone's word for it. :/

If anyone has something more substantial than a random opinion, that would be -greatly- helpful.
