Go to the fabric store and get a whoooole bunch of fabric. Take thumb tacks and tack the fabric on the ceiling above your bed in a square. That will create kick-ass-mood-setting curtains around your bed. You can also hang cross, crystals, beads, whatever down from the ceiling- it goes well with the fabric. I suggest candles? All sorts. PAINT YOUR MIRROR! It's easy. You could pain moons or stars or skulls or whatever you like around the edge. It comes off too with water if you use acrylic paint. Have fun!

Place some fabric of your choice over your blinds. To decorate them, you can stick some plastic spiders or whatever you wish on them.
You can also to try to get thick curtains. The darkness will give your room a dark look, without it being so.

Making a room dark and evil?
Blacklights.
Those things are so freaking cool.

If you can, get a large dark colored wooden board, and then splash red paint all over it. That can cover a large area, and give off that 'Someone died here' effect.

Just a couple of ideas.

Since this thread has been resurrected, 3 words. The first two don't count.

I know, I just am as stupid as not to read the post dates. I have learned to from this though.

Well, does it matter if it's old? This specifical thread about decorating rooms can be quite timeless.

Anyway, in the topic: My room is also painted blue, and to make it look more interesting I covered it up with posters of all kinds, made a black satin cover for my bed, and placed some creepy dolls and other stuff (eg. necklaces, Nightmare Before Christmas figures, books, candles, etc.) in some strategical places.
It might not be the "dark" way she was looking for, but... I like it though

My current room still has the look of when I first moved into it [11 years ago], but since I am getting a new room, hopefully soon, I needs tips on the decorations I should get for it. :]

The house I live in was built in the early 50's. My room was previously occupied by my female cousin who had notoriously bad interior decorating taste. The original room had one side appointed with natural wood paneling. She covered it up with wallpaper that was a white background, with orange, green, and yellow dots !!!

She painted the rest of the walls bright yellow. And that's how it is to this day, because I have not taken the personal initiative to sand down the walls and repaint. I did, however, tear down the shitty hippie-pop wallpaper.

My window is covered with a (once) nice window shade that my cousin got from her boss and gave me 2 years ago. I installed it myself, but one day some neighbors were being very loud what with their ugly music and their obnoxeously loud screaming children, and I couldn't hear my radio. I got mad and tore the window covering down in my temper-fit. Now it's all screwed up, but it still helps keep the bright sun out of my yellow room. Sometimes I feel like I live in a giant discarded banana peel.

Never buy a house that faces west.

You should make your own window coverings or hire someone to make them for you just the way you want them. Hiring someone may be a wee bit expensive, but at least you'll have something nice to look at in your room.
