Yes that's exactly how I feel. I have no business saying it's wrong for other couples out there to explore around and sleep with other people. I just know for a fact that it would positively ruin my relationship if anyone...guy or girl..was involved with us two. Because like I already said, I'm too jealous, and I get WAY too emotionally connected to people, so the relationship would just end up dying, due to me. I'm sure my boyfriend loves the "idea" of a threesome but he knows it would ruin what we already have, and therefore he respects my decision in that never happening...because a fantasy just isn't worth ruining the intimacy. Having been with him for almost two years now...I feel like I've finally felt what that "true bond" feels like where...me and him both can look like crap, throw up in front of eachother, see eachother naked all the time without feeling embarrased, know what eachothers thinking, sleep together every night etc etc. I really don't think that I would ever need anything else... yes I can think guys are cute, have guy friends, and enjoy the company...but as far as sex goes...I'm good with the way things are...and if he ever feels differently and wants to go his own way and talk to other girls then I will be respectful of his opinion, end things with him...and find someone who feels the same way I do.

Jake and I have what I guess would be called a modified open relationship. When we are around each other then we are monogamous but if we are not able to physically be with each other then we are both okay with having our sexual needs/wants/desires fulfilled by others as long as there is nothing more than a physical connection and we are safe. We rarely do fool around with others, despite the large amounts of time that we spend apart but we have both indulged, after all it is rather difficult to go an entire semester without any intimate physical contact after being able to regularly indulge oneself.

It will also work well to our advantage if/when Jake joins the Navy, as he is currently planning to do, because he will be spending so much time at see and in foreign ports and I am not very good at going such long periods of time without physical contact.

This. I'm completely monogamous, I can't think of being with anyone else when I'm in a relationship and it would hurt if my partner wanted someone else, even just physically, but I do appreciate that some people are polyamorous or just have different needs.

It just kinda sucks when you're in a relationship with someone who isn't monogamous or vice versa.

The story of my life. I was with a guy for about half a year once and found out he went and got engaged to someone else without me knowing. It was awesome, to say the least.

YIKES. Thats horrible.

Me and my first boyfriend broke up pretty much because he wanted to fuck around, and I wasn't okay with it. The very last guy I dated was in an open relationship but didn't let me know about that, I had to find out from a friend of his. His girlfriend knew about me though >.<

Only if you are not in agreement. Clearly you need someone to be monogamous with you and if you thought they were committed to that and then they cheated, it would suck.

For others who agree to have an open relationships by agreement, it does not suck.

Thats what I meant, although at the same time while I do know lots and lots of people make it work, I do know people who got into open relationships just to make the other person happy or because they were afraid to lose them if they didn't. Or just to try it out and found they didn't like it but their partner did. So they were in agreement but it did suck for them at the same time.

If you are doing something that you don't like just to please your partner then things aren't going to work out very well. Agreeing to be in an open relationship when you want monogamy is no different.

I'm cool with open relationships to a certain extent.

When my partner wants the sex of another over mine, I'm done. When my partner wants to invest their feelings into another, then I'm also done.

So basically, I have to be number one in their book and we both can entertain the peripheral pleasures outside of the relationship. Basically, if I'm going out and plan on getting laid by a stranger, I'm leaving my heart at home. I'd expect the same thing from my partner.

Though I'm sure most everyone has already covered that much already from their own posts.
