Underworld: Awakening

| |

Underworld: Awakening brings us back to the dark and gritty atmosphere of its predecessors while adding a new twist to the series. Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene, plus there are a few newbies this time around. Instead of battling the Lycans, Selene must face a new danger. Humans have discovered the existence of both Vampires and Lycans, and after capturing and keeping Selene cryogenically frozen for twelve years, she escapes. The writers added a new aspect to the series with the addition of the first Vampire and Lycan hybrid played by newcomer India Eisley. Len Wiseman did not direct this installment, however he did write the script along with others, leaving the directing to Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. It looks to hold to the franchise’s delivery of high action and sex appeal with Ms. Beckinsale in her signature form-fitting black leather. There’s also a sneak peek at a new, gigantic creature just to provide a bit of a tease. The film releases on January 20, 2012, in 2D, Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.
