Tonight the Venice Beach Freakshow is hosting a strongman competition. It looks to be the opponents will be The Illustrated Penguin, who can lift five to ten pounds through his stretched ear lobes, and Billy Owen, Todd’s mystery character tonight. In episode five, “The Littlest Wedding”, another Freakshow sometimes member, Digger, calls Todd and asks if he can come down because he needs some money. It turns out Digger’s a hobo. He hitchhikes, hops trains, and basically lives hand-to-mouth, but nothing is mentioned of his special freakshow quality. With a shocking start to episode four, “Human Pin Cushion,” we see Murrugun shoving skewers through his arm. He has agreed to do the famous human pin cushion act for the Venice Beach Freakshow. This act goes back thousands of years where people would pierce themselves in multiple locations throughout their bodies without bleeding. It’s sword swallower’s day on Freakshow’s second episode, “Swords a Plenty”, and Todd’s daughter, Asia, is going to give it a shot. It turns out that sword swallowing goes back thousands of years ago, according to Todd.
