Panel of Experts: How do you feel fiction-writing and screen-writing compare?
Game of Thrones: High Sparrow
I’ve read a lot about this season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, and people who worked on the show are saying that this is the season that starts to take the show in a different direction from the books. If I didn’t see it in previous episodes, I definitely do now, and this episode more than any other has broken the expectations that the books left me with. It has only made me more excited to see what happens, since I don’t know what’s coming… Read More »
Game of Thrones: The House of Black and White
I am so excited to be talking about this week’s Game of Thrones episode, as it introduces one of my favorite elements from the book series, the House of Black and White. The episode opens on Arya still aboard ship that carries her to Braavos, learning about their customs already. I’d like to note that the scenery here is absolutely breathtaking as we see the entire city for the first time. She gets brought straight to the House of Black and White for which episode… Read More »
Game of Thrones: The Wars to Come
Let me just start by starting I’m thrilled to be doing the recaps for season 5 of “Game of Thrones.” I’ve been a huge supporter of the show and the books for the past couple years, and I’ve been waiting for this on the edge of my seat since last years finale. The episode starts off with a flashback scene where we get to see a young Cersei Lannister going with another girl to see a woman who can tell her her future. Though the… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Conquer Season Finale
Hello all. I am your host, Michael Fisher, award-winning horror author and tattooer. Welcome to Gothic.net’s season finale recap of The Walking Dead, titled Conquer. The flashbacks from last week end with Rick going completely in-Shane and getting knocked the fuck out by Michonne. As always, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! Yay, we open to Morgan sleeping in a wrecked car. I’ve been wondering what was up with him since Georgia. He spies a lucky rabbit’s foot and takes that as a sign to have a cuppa… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Try
Welcome back to Gothic.net’s weekly recap of The Walking Dead, with your host, the award-winning horror author and tattooer, Fish. This week we have episode 515, titled “Try”. Are Rick and Company going to try to fit into the Alexandria Safe Zone, or, more likely, try to take it over. Let’s give it a viewing, shall we? Follow me, and watch your back because SPOILERS ABOUND!!! I’ve heard some rumors that this may be another character’s last episode. They’ve done it before, offing someone the… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Spend
Welcome back to Gothic.net’s weekly recap of The Walking Dead, with your host, the award-winning horror author and tattooer, Fish. This week we will try to “Spend,” also known as Episode 514. Spend is, of course, what the show’s sponsors want us to do with our hard-earned, or ill-gotten, money. As you all know, the upcoming article is rife with spoilers, not to mention a healthy dose of snark, seasoned with a few dashes of vulgarity. If you have a problem with any of these,… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Forget
Welcome back to Gothic.net’s weekly recap of The Walking Dead. It could actually be titled The Chatting Dead this week, because there certainly seems to be a lot of small talk happening around town. This week’s episode is titled Forget. What, of all the horrible things that have needed to be done, are we trying to forget? Chopping Gareth into tiny pieces? Shooting you mother in the head because she was dying? Arguing over the color of a stupid dress? I wish I could forget… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Remember
Welcome back to Gothic.net’s weekly recap of The Walking Dead. This week we will try to “Remember,” also known as Episode 512. What we are trying to remember, we shall soon see. Don’t Open! Spoilers Inside! And the gates swing wide allowing our troubled group entrance to Alexandria. Two gate guards are startled as a jump scare equals a dead possum. “We brought dinner,” says the redneck, brandishing the possum. Apparently, they need to surrender their weapons if they want to stay but they can… Read More »
The Walking Dead: The Distance
I usually like to read the book first. Or comics, in this case. That obnoxious friend who read all of A Song of Ice and Fire before HBO picked it up and filmed her friends’ reactions to major plot twists? That’s me. The person in line for Mockingjay who asks if you’d read The Hunger Games and then gives you a sympathetic look when you hadn’t? Also me. The girl in your Lit class who loudly says “Well in the books you really see more… Read More »
The Walking Dead: Them
Here we are, back again, for another episode of the top zombie survival show on television. That’s right, American Idol. Just kidding, this is The Walking Dead. Episode 510, entitled “Them.” Hopefully, it will include giant radioactive ants, but I doubt it. This will include spoilers though. MAJOR SPOILERS INSIDE! Are those Noah’s eyes? Nope, Glenn? Wrong again. It’s Maggie, obviously distraught over Beth’s demise, which has been amplified by Tyreese biting it. “Excuse me, can I talk to you about our Lord and Savior…”… Read More »
