Game of Thrones – And Now His Watch is Ended

This week’s Game of Thrones was full of comeuppance, as tyrants were humbled (or killed) and we got one of the best, most epic moments of the series so far. This episode was mostly split between King’s Landing and Craster’s Keep north of the Wall, with a few stops here and there. One stop was a brief and seemingly pointless visit with Bran and Jojen and a three-eyed crow. Yup, Bran has weird psychic dreams and the crow has some kind of mystic significance. We… Read More »
Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Film Undying Using Kickstarter for Funding

Greg and Jared Butler have some interesting ideas about zombie movies, and how to make one like you’ve never seen before. They just need $45K to make it happen. The Butler brothers want to film a movie about heroic zombies in a post-apocalyptic world fighting against evil human oppressors. The zombies are immortals who’ve lived for a hundred years or more, and use various bio-mechanical bodges to hold their deteriorating bodies together. The movie is called Undying. And while I was skeptical at first (whenever… Read More »
The Following, episode 13, Havenport

Sheriff Roderick is helping out the FBI right under Hardy’s nose. But one thing he didn’t count on was that Weston would be back. When Weston sees him, he pulls a gun on him. Roderick eyes him momentarily and was surprised to see him, banking on Weston being in the hospital. Roderick walks away and the rest of the sheriffs’ office pin down Weston as Roderick walks out the door. We learn that Roderick’s real name is Tim Nelson and he had Carroll as an… Read More »
Game of Thrones – Walk of Punishment

No good deed goes unpunished on Game of Thrones. From battlefields to brothels, favors are traded even if the cost isn’t always immediate. Or, in Jaime’s case, very immediate. There were three short “check-in” plots this week, so let’s take care of those first. Arya and her companions are still with the Brotherhood Without Banners, but they know who she is now. Hot Pie decides to stay on at the inn as a cook, and makes Arya a breadwolf. Arya and Gundry head out with… Read More »
Lost Girl – Hail, Hale

Lost Girl gives us the big windup before the season finale, as Hale’s inauguration turns into the inciting incident for a full-scale race war. This season of Lost Girl has been desultory. It’s lacked focus and never found the fun Scooby Gang dynamic that made it such a cheap thrill for the first two seasons. This episode wasn’t really a return to form, but it had drama and tension and a galloping pace that was a welcome relief from the bromidic walk-throughs of the last… Read More »
The Following, episode 12, The Curse

Episode twelve titled, “The Curse”, starts off with Claire trying to make a run for it with Joey first thing in the morning, only to be met at the gate by Roderick and a group of the followers. Good try, bad call. Now Claire’s on house arrest courtesy of sheriff Roderick. Creepy Carroll informs Claire that trust must be earned. In New Jersey, Hardy and the FBI are checking out the cult’s training grounds. A beat up Weston is back and looking worse for the… Read More »
Game of Thrones – Dark Wings, Dark Words

On Game of Thrones, a long-kept secret is revealed, the Stark boys learn about wargs, Brienne battles Jaime, and Margaery gives Joffrey a suggestion he can really get behind. Sometimes, a Game of Thrones episode will focus on a specific theme, and all the plots will wind around and touch on that theme at some point in the hour. Betrayal, servitude, loyalty to family, and so forth. This week’s episode, “Dark Wings, Dark Words,” was mainly about travel and foreboding, as the title might suggest.… Read More »
Immortalized Episode 8: Heaven and Hell

Finally we have the return of my favorite Immortalizer, Takeshi Yamada. Tonight he goes up against the challenger, Gary Robbins. Tonight’s theme is “Heaven and Hell”, which should provide for an interesting contest. Robbins is a Hollywood taxidermist that provides his pieces for television and film, to name a few. His experience is broad and impressive. This will be a challenge for Yamada. Robbins personal goal is to be ranked number one in the country. He plans on using mice as humans. They will be… Read More »
Freakshow 108 Say No To Normal

On the season one finale, the Venice Beach Freakshow brings us a “Freakshow Festival”. Todd waxes on the idea of ‘normal’ and has the notion for a festival, a freakshow family reunion of sorts. He sees it as becoming the biggest event in sideshow history. That’s a big boast, right there. Todd looks at the word ‘normal’ as being a derogatory term, instead of the word ‘freak’. For the festival, he envisions the entire cast coming together for a march that conveys that, yes, they… Read More »
Lost Girl – Adventures in Fae-bystitting

On Lost Girl, Bo and Kenzi get a taste of suburban hell and we finally find out what Kenzi smells like. This week’s episode (“Adventures in Fae-By Sitting”) starts out like those fun Lost Girl episodes of old, with Bo and Kenzi bantering in their apartment. Bo’s love life is empty, but she points out that Kenzi doesn’t do much dating either. “I have a rich inner life.” “That reminds me, I need new batteries.” Then a case comes walking in the door, a cute… Read More »
